‘Head down’ after my early-March success!
With The Lure of The Bass ‘The Revised Edition’ written and in the final stages of being edited, I have taken a brief step away from it to bring you this blog post. As before, encompassed further down the page is an Audio Clip that describes the background to the 62cm March bass in the featured image – a capture that once again is highly significant in the way it came about, and what my approach may be going forward…
As you can see from the slideshow above, I also managed to land three smaller bass on the Megabass Sleeper Craw during the evening of the 1st March, with the bigger specimen featured hooked, landed, and released the day after.
A bit of competition?
As you’ll hear on the Audio Clip below, the fact that I ‘sighted’ the 62cm bass that ended up being gleefully held up to the camera (from out of the mud pit surrounding me) is a first for me on this specific lure. Most certainly, I have witnessed what I believe is bass movement (ripples and swirls in the shallows) and then cast towards it and have subsequently caught.
However, this is the first time that I have managed to tempt a bass out with what is a fairly hefty lure (the Sleeper Craw) from practically under the rod tip, and right before my eyes – albeit in pretty mucky water!

You can see from the photograph above how happy I am with this marvellous fish, one that I was chuffed about considering the absolute behemoths I’d observed and failed to tempt the day before. “I’ll be back” seems to a phrase I am finding myself muttering quite a lot in 2025!
The Lure of The Bass – The Revised Edition

Although I need to amend the blurb on the rear cover, I thought you would appreciate a sneak preview of a title that I have worked extremely hard on this winter, with the prime objective of bringing this ‘How To Manual’ bang up to date.
As intimated in the Audio Clip, the book will be released during the third week of April 2025. Therefore, if you would like to be added to the pre-order list then please do drop me an email via the Contact Form below, or directly at: marccowlingblf@yahoo.com
